-On the Cod's 7th final patrol on 8 JUL 1945 she rescued the 56 Dutch Sailors onboard the O-19 submarine stuck on a coral reef. The Dutchmen were dropped in the Philippines. After completing its patrol, the USS Cod returned to Perth Australia on 13 AUG 1945 where they were welcomed by the O-19 crew and thank-you party. During this party, the sailors received word that the Japanese surrendered. The O-19, martini glass, and kangaroo were added to the battle flag.
